Dr. Richard Firshein

Dr. Richard Firshein, D.O. is the director of the Firshein Center for Comprehensive Medicine in New York City.  Dr. Firshein is a graduate of The New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, Board Certified in Family Medicine, and a certified acupuncturist, trained at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

As a leader in the field of Integrative  and Alternative medicine, Dr. Firshein has developed a number of comprehensive programs for asthma, allergies, pain management, cardiovascular disease, fatigue and other whole-life programs.

A prolific writer and speaker, Dr. Firshein is the author of the ground-breaking books Reversing Asthma, Your Asthma-Free Child, and The Nutraceutical Revolution.  His books have been truly revolutionary in dealing with today's most pressing medical condition such as the profound connection between diet and health, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and longevity and anti-aging therapies.  His works have been published worldwide, in far away places such as Australia, Colombia, China, Japan, and India, and have been translated into numerous languages including Mandarin, Japanese, Italian, and Spanish.  Dr. Firshein has been a regular contributing editor to Psychology Today, and Natural Living Today, and has been prominently featured in several popular magazines including Vogue, Men's Health and BottomLine Health, as well as the distinguished medical journals Biomed and proceedings of The American Society of Clinical Oncologists.

Dr. Firshein has also appeared on a host of television programs including Good Day New York, the Food Network, and CBS Morning News.  He hosted his radio show "e;Housecalls"e; for eight years.

Dr. Firshein has delivered professional lectures, and lectured frequently as a Professor of Family Medicine.  He is the creator of the "e;Breath of Life Asthma Prevention Program,"e; and medical director of the Paul Sorvino Asthma Foundation.

Dr. Firshein is the founder of DrCity.com, a medical website designed to act as an open forum for doctors and patients providing a vast resource for medical advice and information.

Dr. Firshein is the president of Nutraceutical Research and Lipid Oncologics Inc., dedicated to researching nutraceutical therapies.  His study on the Effects of Alkylglycerols on Cellular Growth and the Sensitivity to Chemotherapeutic Agents in Tumor Cultures was made possible by a grant from the Royal Academy in Sweden.  Dr. Firshein currently holds a patent on the use of DHA and EPA, the protective components found in fish oils, as well as the Alklglycerols in conjunction with chemotherapy for the treatment of cancer.
